Once passes are purchased, you will receive a confirmation receipt via e-mail. Passes WILL NOT be sent via mail or email, they will be placed at will call of their respective venues. In order to claim your pre-sale event pass, please bring a copy of your purchase receipt and a piece of government issued ID.
All sales of event passes are final and non-refundable. All event passes purchased during the pre-sale are transferable until Friday, April 11th. To transfer an event pass to someone else, please contact Graham Loyst (

Team Eligibility
All teams must meet the following minimum criteria to attend a Canadian Open event:
- Be a registered member, and in good standing, with their respective PTA and with Volleyball Canada. Any foreign team looking to participate in a must be registered and in good standing with their own National Federation.
- Participate in the Provincial/Territorial Championship of their respective PTA. The official team roster submitted for a Canadian Open MUST be the same as the one submitted for the Provincial/Territorial Championship.
- Meet all additional registration requirements of their PTA and Volleyball Canada.
Rosters
Players: A team in any age category must have between a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 15 players registered on their official roster. A maximum of 15 players can be in uniform, participate in the warm-up, and sit on the bench. However, only 12 players are allowed to be on the scoresheet for any given match. These 12 players registered on the scoresheet are the only ones eligible to participate in the match. The 12 players registered on the scoresheet may vary from match to match as long as no more than 12 take part in any given match.
Team Personnel: A maximum of six (6) team personnel can be registered on the official roster submitted prior to any VC Championship, however only five (5) of these individuals are allowed to be on the scoresheet and/or on the bench for any given match.
Competition Rules and Regulations
The <a href='http://www.volleyball.ca/sites/www.volleyball.ca/files/Officiating_Arbitres/Resources/2013-14%20Rulebook%20ENG.pdf'>2013-2014 Indoor Volleyball Rulebook</a> will be used to govern play at the all Canadian Open events.
Please consult the 2014 Volleyball Canada Indoor Competition Guide for information on the guidelines that are specific to Volleyball Canada sanctioned events. These include, but are not limited to, team composition, player registration, seeding and draw principles, and performance bonds.

Scheduling
ISET IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE.
Please note that the schedule for your division may change. It is reccomended that you check Iset in order to verify your game times.
On Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18, there will be two Block Starting Times:
In the AM WAVE, the first matches begin at 7:30 a.m. and the last matches begin at 1:15 p.m.
On both Saturday and Sunday the AM WAVE includes:
- 16U Women (Division 2)
- 16U Women (Division 3 and 4)
In the PM WAVE, the first matches start at 2:30 p.m. and the last matches start at 8:15 p.m.
On both Saturday and Sunday, the PM WAVE includes:
- 16U Women (Division 1)
- 16U Men (Division 1)
- 16U Men (Division 2)
On Monday May 19th, the playoffs take place. All teams should be prepared to play at 7:30 a.m. and throughout the day. The final match on Monday will be scheduled no later than 3:45pm.
We do our best to run on schedule, however unforseen events may cause the tournament to run later than expected.

One hour practice times will be available Friday May 16.

Team Check In
Team Check-in
Check-in will take place in the Olympic Oval on Friday May 16 between 10:00am and 9:00pm.
Failure to check-in during designated times will result in a penalty of $100 that must to be paid in cash or by cheque on site by the team before they can receive their accreditations.
Only designated team staff can check-in the team. However we strongly recommend that the Head Coach checks-in the team.

- Verification of the team roster
- Proof of age must be presented for each player. Government issued IDs such as (but not limited to): an original or photocopy of birth certificate or driver’s license are accepted documents.
- Coach’s NCCP card
Coaches Meeting
There will NOT be a coaches meeting prior to this year's Canadian West Open. In lieu of the coaches' meeting, the HEAD COACH must complete the Team Check-In.
It is MANDATORY that the Head Coach completes the team check-in on Friday, May 16 at the Olympic Oval between 10:00 am and 9:00 pm. At check-in, coaches will be asked to verify their team roster with proof-of-age documentation, pick up player/coaches packages, and will be given all relevant event information. Teams will not be permitted to begin play without having completed the team check-in.
Coaching Certification
For the 2014 National Championships, Volleyball Canada will apply fines for coaches not meeting the following criteria:
- Coaches in their first appearance at a National Championships will have a one-year grace period to attain full certification requirements. No exemption cards required.
- Coaches in their second appearance at a National Championships (attended 2013 Nationals) that do not meet the certification requirements must pay a fine of $300 payable by cash, debit or credit at check-in. All fines collected will be re-invested into coaching development.

Accommodations
Teams requiring hotel accommodations for the 2014 16U Canadian West Open being held in Calgary are asked to book only through Volleyball Canada and Alberta Volleyball Association Host Hotels as it is now one of the criteria for acceptance into this event.
Reservations: Reservations can be made by contacting the host hotels directly by following the instructions found in the Host Hotel Document created by our contracting partner SimpleRES by Anderson Vacations. Previous Bookings: If you have already secured accommodations, either with a hotel directly or through a third party travel booking website, you must relay this information to Volleyball Canada by completing Stay and Play - Form 1. The information will be passed along to the Alberta Volleyball Association and SimpleRES by Anderson Vacations to see if they are able to move your block of rooms into the contracted blocks. If they are unable to do so, you will be required to cancel your reservation and rebook in the contracted blocks.

Exemptions: Volleyball Canada will consider waiving the Stay and Play Policy if 1) a team is based within 150 km (driving distance) of Calgary or 2) a team is staying with family or friend that resides within 150 km (driving distance) of Calgary. Scorekeepers and Linesperson
Teams will be required to provide one linesperson and one scorekeeper for each of their matches. Volleyball Alberta will be in contact with all teams once they have registered to ensure that they register a scorekeeper prior to the event. All scorekeepers are required to go through a training session on Friday May 16 in the Olympic Oval.
Withdrawal
If a team withdraws from the event prior to the Registration Deadline (Friday, March 14th) they will be refunded their entire amount less a $250 administration fee. If a team withdraws after this date they will not receive any refund.

In previous years this tournament has been full within the first few days of registration. Please note that registration is done on a first come, first serve basis. Please enter your team on the waiting list even if the age category is full.
The final roster must be submitted prior to the Roster Lock Date. After this date, no roster changes will be permitted. Please consult the Team Registration section of the 2014 Indoor Volleyball Competition Guide for more information on roster composition.
